About the Artist

 Ray(mond) Lyttle is an artist working primarily in watercolours, with new-found interests in ceramics and photography. Ray often incorporates other mediums like digital and acrylic in his paintings. He teaches in art in several capacities at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Qaumajuq.
2016
Ray began teaching through Propel LRSD and the Interdivisional Program For Students with Autism. Their work focused on self-reflection and emotions. Later that year, Ray curated Art, Emotion, and Autism at the Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This exhibition featured artists Finnen Volt, Lisa-Marie Carrick, Steve Goetze, and Adam Goetze in addition to the students from IPSA.

2017
In this year, Ray wrote and Illustrated Colour Me Happy, a children's book about healthy communication between adult caregivers and their children. 
 
2019
Ray's work is featured and in the poetry collection Moonwater by Janine Brown.

2020
At this time, Ray's work focused on graphic design for University of Winnipeg student organization. He also reflected on themes of human geography in his work, which was gifted. Ray also began working at the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq in this year. 

2021
In 2021, Ray expanded into digital art and photography. His work was featured in the Craft Couseil's 2021 charity auction. In this year, he began to emphasize his perceptions of the self and of reality in his work, while enjoying humorous work and studies.

2022
Ray's interest in ceramics was ignited by Disa Halderson, and his focus stayed on this medium for the majority of the year. Ray's photography was also featured by WAG-Qaumajuq for the annual Gallery Ball. 

2023
Ray spends several hours in the ceramics studio every week and has begun to plan intentional thematic series. He continues to paint and is mixing media more than previously. His work is currently inspired by disregulation and strong emotional responses, positive and otherwise.
